“Bee-Eater”: A Year of Birds Month 11
I saw this bird right when I was about to start testing for club and couldn’t let it go by. It’s the European Bee-Eater and aren’t they cool?
They lay eggs in tube-like nests on sandy riverbanks. The males and females look alike. They do actually eat bees and people who keep bees have been historically and still continue to be pretty crummy to them as a result.
I think they’re awesome!
Photo ganked from one of those “Yay, birds!” sites.
Kiki’s painting is marvelous! Thank you!
This month’s fiber is a 24/25 micron Targhee. It’s the same Targhee that’s in that Targhee blend I/we enjoy so much. It’s so poofy that we had to use larger bags!
I hope you love it.
