About Me

Fugl- Finished!

Hello and welcome to Hello Yarn! I’m Adrian Bizilia, a small town Pennsylvania girl (well, I’m 39, but if I keep saying “girl” maybe I won’t hear my knees creaking) living in a little village in Western MA with an Irishman and a fantastic little terrier named Pippa.

Hello Yarn the shop is my day job. Not bad, right?! This blog contains a bit of shop info and a whole lot of my after work hobby: copious, all-consuming knitting and spinning. I collect wool like sheep are going to become extinct tomorrow.

While I’m knitting and spinning, chances are I’m watching a movie. If you’re ever in a pinch and don’t know what movie to rent, I’ve got some recommendations.

Lately I’ve been playing at taking decent photographs. The camera I’ve been using is a Nikon D50, for which I have one particularly awesome lens, a 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor. Can’t recommend them both enough. Photoshop is my photo editor of choice.

I very much enjoy cooking, though not nearly as much as I enjoy eating what I cook. In order to both document and practice with my new camera, I try to take photos of what I cook or eat, but I’m usually too excited about the food to remember.

I built this whole site myself using Squirrelcart for my shopping cart and self-hosted Wordpress for my blog. I still build the rest of the pages, for patterns and such, with Frontpage (the horror!). Security is provided by Geotrust via Rapid SSL. I’m pleased with them all.

Sarah Neuberger from The Small Object made those rad little thumbprint sheep graphics you see all over the place here. Aren’t they the best?

Do not post my patterns elsewhere or I will have a fit. I’m trying to earn a living from this site and having the patterns here and only here is crucial.

Thanks for visiting! I hope I’ve at least given you a little entertainment.

Someday I’ll do one of those 100 Things About Me things because they’re cool.

I’m helloyarn on Flickr and helloyarn on Ravelry, as well.
