Vermont Sheep and Wool 2006
Now that was fun. On Saturday, I met my friend Carolyn in New York and we meandered up to Burlington, VT, stopping along the way in Saratoga Springs, NY for French grilled sandwiches and tiny pickles and a little yarn shopping. On Sunday, we jumped out of bed at about 6 am (a little prematurely as the festival didn’t start until 10) and headed up the road to the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival. Items were purchased.

These 4 bags of Romney and Romney/mohair are from Fantom Farm (no website). Aren’t the colors glorious? The prep is great and the fiber is so soft and silky. The Fantom Farm guys are the cutest things ever, too. These need to be spun for colorwork mittens.

This is 1/2 of Forsythia the Cormo ewe’s fleece. It came from Foxhill Farm in Lee, MA (no website- the owner doesn’t even have a computer!). This is by far the nicest fleece I’ve ever had. Cormo feels amazing and it was coated, so no vm and only the teensiest bit of dust on a teensy section of fleece. There will be a lot of prep experimentation to be sure I do it justice and some seriously careful fleece-washing.
I finished the Kureyon scarf on the way up.

The Facts:
Yarn: 4 balls of Noro Kureyon, all different colorways (#163, 170, 164, and 126), used to the last drop
Pattern: 42 sts., 2×2 rib, 2×2 stripe alternating from 2 different balls of Kureyon
Needle: size 8 Addi Turbo
Size: 6″ x 70″
This is a super easy but fun to knit scarf. I’m sure I’ll make more when someone needs a scarf because it’s so simple and beautiful. 4 balls make a large scarf. You could use 2 balls and get a long and narrow one to wind around and around the neck.

I really like that scarf! I need to make for someone in MI. I so want to roll around in that fleece looks like you captured clouds from the sky. Can’t wait to see your new stuff spun.

Glad you had a good time in my home state!
That scarf is beyooootiful! I’ve been scoping out varigated yarns every chance I get since you originally posted the beginning of the scarf, but I haven’t found anything that I think would look nice together yet so that I can try it.

Glad you enjoyed Saratoga! Mrs. London’s is one of my favorite spots! Did you notice the old fashioned pharmacy on the corner (Menges & Curtis)? My family’s store!

Hey, I was there too! I was a very good girl, only one skein of sock yarn. If only the fest didn’t hppen so close to my daughter’s birthday, then I could justify purchasing more.

I’m sorry we missed you! I was there with a couple of other bloggers and it certainly wasn’t too big or crowded a space to meet up.
Beautiful fleece!

After seeing your first post on the scarf, I fished out two balls of noro silk garden from my stash and worked a narrower version. With only two skeins, it is too small for me, but will be great for a neice, I think. Yours makes me want to run out to buy some kureyon! It’s beautiful.

ALthough I’m a practiced beginner I wondered if you could clarify your instructions for your beautiful Kureyon scarf, in terms of the “2×2 rib, 2×2 stripe alternating from 2 different balls of Kureyon”

Love the Noro scraf. I happen to find it on line. Can you give a little more detail on how you did it? I’m new to knitting and just discovered NORO and would love to try this scraf on for hand.
Thanks! Jennie
