Finished Object- Pirate Mittens
All skulls, all the time.
The facts:
*yarn: Dale of Norway Hauk in natural (contrast color) and black (main color)- one skein each
*needles: US 3 long circular for magic loop
* size: to fit a small/medium woman’s hand , 8†circumference, 12†tip to bottom edge
* gauge: 6 sts. and 6 rows = 1†in stockinette
* started Jan. 7, 2006
* finished Jan. 8, 2006
Only one palm has the date. The other is plain. Make both with date, both plain, or add your initials!
These come in just the one size (my size), but I’m thinking if they’re knit with fingering yarn on smaller needles, they could fit a child, and if they’re knit in worsted weight with larger needles, they could fit a big hand. Will try and report back!
I really ought to keep one of these projects to myself someday and submit it to Knitty, huh?

You really should submit your designs to Knitty. It’s so nice when a wonderful knitblogger offers their patterns free (whether on their blog, or on Knitty or Magknits, etc.). We really appreciate it. Printing off pattern now!

My dh is going to freak out when I show him…then I’ll be hounded into yet another hat, no doubt. He IS a pirate!

I’m not a fan of the Jolly Roger, but I really like the patterning on the palms.
I wonder if I knit mittens for the DD if she would stop telling me that she likes her hands cold…

Too cool. I’m almost finished making the hat with Dale Baby Ull. Now, I’ll have to make the matching mittens. I also made your felted mini skull tote.
Great patterns. Thanks a lot.
