Shop Update Day

Don’t forget-I’m updating the shop with all sorts of good stuff at 2pm EST.

Here’s a sneak peek:
Patience spinning wool
Valentine 3 (most requested colorway ever!)
Bits
Carrot
Insect Wings
Bumbleberry
Holland Shawl Kit
Menagerie

And from Sarah at Maisy Day handspun:
MDH Raspberry Tea
MDH Peeps

I’ve also added hand-dyed nylon sparklies for spinners. Card them into other fibers for added shine and strength, or just hold alongside and spin in. They’re super soft and sparkly! Each packet contains 10 grams (a big handful).

Thanks for all the cheers in the Knitting Olympics. I obviously didn’t finish, though the nice women at the Boston Knitting Olympics closing ceremonies party assured me the body made a nice skirt. :P The plan is to have a finished sweater by the end of the weekend. I am dying to wear the thing as it’s FRIGID out lately and the sweater is quite thick!

Perhaps you can help me with this, knitters: Which makes the best baby sweater- fingering, sport, worsted, or chunky? Which would you rather knit? I need to find some middle ground, I suppose, between fingering, which is the usual baby gauge, and chunky, which makes a quick knit for those last minute gifts. I value any opinions.

Can I Have Another Week?

If I didn’t have such an astounding amount of work to do this weekend, I bet I could finish. Sadly, I can’t hide away and pretend the house is clean and the groceries are bought and yarn is spun. Boo!

One chubby sleeve, near completion:

One thing I’ve discovered is that I really prefer knitting this on bamboo needles (I’m using Clover brand). I used an Addi Turbo for the body and they’re just too slippery for my taste. When I stretch the stitches out on the right hand needle to change colors, they stay put on the bamboo for a moment, but snap right back on the Addi. It’s the little things, eh?

Next post: What happens when you steam your garment and it grows by 5″ in circumference? You get brave, that’s what! Let’s not talk about how I should have washed the swatch. I was caught up in Olympic madness, okay?

Japanese Squirrel and Oak Mittens

Taeko made my Squirrel and Oak mittens in the craziest colors. I love them!
