Shop Update

I’ve added shawl kits, handspun yarn, hand-dyed superwash worsted weight yarn, and spindle kits/fiber.

There’s going to be another update on December 13th, and then that’s it until after the holidays. I’ll work my tail off so there will be lots to buy.

The pirate ski cap pattern really is coming, probably at the end of the week. I’ve got some new pattern publishing software to play with and learn. I’m trying to make them look all professional and stuff. Heh.

ETA: Everyone bought everything so quickly that it was a bit of a blur even for me! If you want to see what I made in the past couple of weeks, here are links to some photos:

Finished Object- We Call Them Pirates

Ahoy!

pirate hat, skull and crossbones, knitting

*see it on*
*closeup*

*pattern: my own
*yarn: Dale of Norway Hauk in natural (0020) and black (0090)- one skein each, plus some supersoft Merino wool for lining
*needles: US 1 and 3 40″ circulars for magic loop knitting
* size: 21″

I had to do the lining on this 3 times to get it to my liking. All the while, my husband practically sat on top of me with his hand out, waiting for his new hat. I’m a little twiddly, I love this hat so much.

Dale of Norway Hauk is fantastic. It’s impregnated with teflon, to make it water resistant, which we haven’t really had a chance to test in real world conditions, but it did not behave like regular wool at all when I washed it.

Pattern coming. Alison, I see some stranded knitting in your future.

PS: The top triangle turned out not to have much room for exciting pictures, so it got a continuation of the diamonds, plus a couple of bones. The spider web was such an excellent idea. I will have to figure out what to put that on.

Do Pirates Ski?

Knitting Ufserud was so much fun that I had to do up a graph for another ski-type hat right away. Since I love to knit skulls and the boys still love to wear them, here’s what’s being knit now:

pirate, skull and crossbones, ski hat

There’s still a little blank triangle at the top that still needs a little design, but I have a couple of days to think about it. Does anyone have a suitable “tough guy” suggestion?

This was my great excuse to try Dale of Norway’s Hauk yarn- the one made water resistant by Teflon. This yarn feels odd- a little squeaky, maybe- but the lining is Merino wool, so no foreheads will cry.

Must.knit.faster. I want to make a thousand of these!
