Calling all dogs!!
I finally put Shambles back up on Dogster after his profile was lost in the shuffle. He is pleased that he’s back on the net, but most of his old friends have disappeared!
Won’t you visit his page and be his friend? He’s lonely.
For Amy-
Aw, my spinning wheel made a new friend!
All I can say is boy howdy, it is a totally different ballgame to spin on a Louet. I need some practice! I am not sure what I think of it at all. This Louet is much more basic than the Ashford Kiwi, even. I adore the giant bobbins and it doesn’t seem to need the brake to be adjusted when the bobbin starts to get full like the Ashford does, but the tension adjustment isn’t as fine-tuned, either. One of these wheels is meant to be for spinning and one for plying, so I’ll just keep plugging away until I decide which is which or if that’s even going to be the case. The thing I hate about the Kiwi is that you have to change the front bearing when you switch to the bulky flyer. It is a pain in the ass and I can see the joint wearing out in the future. If I could fit the smaller whorls onto the bulky flyer so I could use the big bobbins for everything, my life would be much simpler. Damn you, Ashford! I’m pleased as punch about the two, mind you, because just look at a Louet makes me smile. I am one of those people who enjoys their looks.
Another reason to smile:
10 pounds of wool top, screaming to meet my dyes.
I dyed this yesterday in the ole Crockpot:
The minute it is bone dry, I’m going to spin her up on the Louet.
Amy, I will try to remember to take photos of it as nests first!
I added a new scarf pattern to the free patterns page today. It’s a really warm and toasty one, so if you have winters like we do in New England, you might just need it. It only takes 2 skeins of Lamb’s Pride Worsted or other worsted yarn. It would be a super way to learn cable knitting, since it’s a simple one.
I also added another fantastic interpretation of the Mini Skull Tote to the webpage. OpheliaSpins made this one. Isn’t it great? Look, no skull!
