Crockpot Dyeing:
To mix acid dye
solutions, you can follow instructions from any number of sources, or just wing
it. Start out with a tsp. of powder in 16 oz. of water. Dribble a
bit on a paper towel and see if you like the concentration. If you want a
pale color, sometimes a few drops of that solution in 16 oz. of water will do
it. About 2 tbsp. of vinegar in each 16 oz. of water works well for me.
Don't be afraid to experiment.

This wool top was soaked in water and layered into the Crockpot, with acid dyes mixed with vinegar and water poured over each layer. I cooked it on high for 3 hours. |

I mixed acid dyes with water and vinegar and poured them over the top. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 min. |

I let it cool a smidge, then pour contents of pan into a sink full of hot water and a little shampoo. Drain and rinse until water is clear. Do this gently, of course. |
